Youth

The WCBC Youth Ministry’s mission statement is to become a vibrant and powerful youth ministry for students (grades 6 through 12) in order to better fulfill the Great Commission by encouraging our students and families to be witnesses in all areas of life and ministry.

About This Ministry

Evangelism: Our goal for evangelism is to reach and invest in students who are unbelievers or un-churched.

Worship: Our goal for worship is to encourage our students to worship freely and joyfully in every situation.

Fellowship: Our goal for fellowship is to develop unity between our students and create an environment where students feel encouraged to invite others.

Discipleship: Our goal for discipleship is to identify where each of our students are spiritually and walk alongside them as they become more mature and gospel-centered.

Ministry: Our goal for ministry is to empower students to take leadership by using their spiritual gifts to serve the church, others, the Youth Ministry and to be witnesses in the world around them.

Youth Ministry Events

Sunday School:

Youth in grades 6-12 meet Sunday mornings at 9:00 am in our Youth House as a group with a time of fellowship, light breakfast, announcements, and prayer. Their Sunday School class is taught by committed adult teachers who also mentor our students.

Wednesday Worship and Bible Study:

On Wednesday nights at 6:30-7:30 pm, youth team building games and praise and worship, followed by a message from God’s Word.

Summer Camp and Weekend Retreats:

A variety of events are planned throughout the year.  These may include weekend retreats, mission projects, and summer camp.  Weekend retreats and summer camp focus on topics and themes that are important to youth and the issues they face.  Youth also participate in a DiscipleNow Weekend each year.  D-Now is an ‘in-town’ weekend retreat led by college students.  Typically, we attend a weeklong summer camp.  Previous years, we have attended Snowbird Outfitters in the NC Mountains and Camp Caswell at Oak Island on the NC coast.
